Our story - Optimhal Laboratory

OptimHal is a Normandy-based SME that designs and manufactures medical devices intended to optimize the pulmonary deposition of medications. Since its creation, its mission has been to innovate in the field of inhalation, while maintaining 100% French production, in the heart of Normandy.

The story of OptimHal is first and foremost a family adventure. It began with Christine and Thierry Porée, both from the pharmaceutical industry, who were later joined by their son, Alexis. In 2005, the company took its first steps by distributing the Funhaler® in France and Belgium, a fun inhalation chamber specially designed for young asthma patients. This innovative device marked the beginning of a long-term commitment to respiratory health.

The key stages of our development

2009 : Creation of the OptimHal laboratory and launch of the ItinHaler®, the first medical silicone inhalation chamber resulting from our own research.
2011 Launch of TipsHaler®, the first spacer device specifically designed to improve the deposition of maintenance treatments, particularly inhaled corticosteroids. Achievement of ISO 13485:2016 certification, confirming our commitment to the quality and safety of medical devices.
2012 : Expansion of our range with devices dedicated to mechanical ventilation, with CombiHaler® and CombiHaler Solo®.
2013 : Inauguration of new premises in Valognes, including a new inhalation research laboratory.
2017 : Launch of the OrHal® pediatric inhalation mask, the first partitioned mask that promotes oral inhalation, and double win at the Galien Medstartup prize in New York.
2019 : Introduction of the MinimHal® inhalation chamber for pediatric mechanical ventilation circuits, and launch of the adult version of the OrHal® mask.
2020 : French, American and Canadian patents obtained for DigitHal®, followed by the marketing of the new version of the TipsHaler® inhalation chamber and its sterilizable hospital version, TipsHaler-HospitHal®.
2024 : Creation of a therapeutic education booklet for children with asthma.
