At OptimHal, environmental commitment is a priority

Aware of our social responsibility, we adopt a voluntary and proactive approach to environmental challenges. Our environmental policy is based on a comprehensive vision of sustainable development, translated into concrete actions at every stage of our activities.

Local production for a controlled impact

We firmly believe that local production is a key lever for limiting our carbon footprint. That's why:

  • All our medical devices are designed and manufactured in France.
  • The injection of the inhalation chambers is carried out in Époisses, Burgundy.
  • The assembly is carried out in our own workshops in Normandy.

Selection of short supply chain suppliers

We prioritize partnerships with local and national suppliers:

Eco-friendly innovations and materials

Sustainable innovation is an integral part of our DNA:

  • Our TipsHaler Hospital® inhalation chamber, the first autoclave-sterilizable chamber, is designed for reuse by multiple patients. This significantly reduces waste in hospitals while ensuring a high level of safety.
  • For the manufacture of our inhalation devices, we favor polypropylene, a material known for its high recyclability. Aware of the environmental limitations of the plastics industry, we remain fully committed to a process of continuous improvement. Our R&D teams are actively exploring innovative alternatives, particularly bio-based materials. Although regulatory and medical constraints currently hinder their application, we are pursuing this research with determination.

Reducing the footprint of travel, even in rural areas

Located in a rural area, OptimHal is implementing several concrete initiatives to limit the environmental impact related to mobility.

  • We use an electric vehicle (Kangoo) and have a charging station on site. A second vehicle runs on ethanol , a more environmentally friendly biofuel.
  • Public transport is encouraged, with partial reimbursement of costs for employees.
  • Video conferencing has replaced a large part of international travel, as well as some domestic journeys.
  • Finally, we encourage teleworking one day a week , thus reducing commuting.

Reduction of waste and pollutants

At OptimHal, we are implementing tangible measures to limit our waste production and better manage potentially polluting substances:

  • Empty or expired metered-dose inhalers used in research are systematically returned to a pharmacy for proper treatment .
  • We have digitized our internal documents using document management software , thereby reducing paper usage.
  • In our laboratory, we favour the use of less polluting solvents , such as ethanol , excluding methanol from our practices.
  • All used chemicals are collected and reprocessed by a specialist subcontractor , ensuring safe disposal.
  • Finally, unsold inhalation chambers are donated to the association Pediatricians of the World , thus offering them a useful and supportive second life.

Responsible consumption

We carefully analyze our purchases to reduce their environmental impact:

Raising employee awareness

We raise awareness and actively involve our employees in our environmental approach. They benefit from training in eco-friendly practices, covering topics such as waste sorting, energy management, responsible consumption, and reducing the carbon footprint associated with digital use. This approach aims to permanently embed eco-responsible practices into our daily operations.

Preservation of biodiversity

Concerned about protecting local wildlife, we have chosen not to fence our establishments, thus allowing wild animals to move freely.

Compliance with regulatory frameworks

In accordance with the AGEC law (anti-waste for a circular economy), we are currently developing eco-design plans focused on:

  • Textiles,
  • The packaging,
  • Promotional materials.

These initiatives aim to reduce the use of materials, improve recyclability and promote reuse.

At OptimHal, we believe that every action counts in protecting our planet. That's why we are committed to continuing and strengthening our efforts to reduce our environmental impact at every level of our business. Through local production, eco-responsible innovation, and raising awareness among our teams, we are actively contributing to a more sustainable future. Our ambition is to continue evolving in harmony with environmental challenges, while maintaining high quality standards for our inhalation devices.
